A Castle-Side Treat for Leitão Lovers
Our First Visit
We’d been looking forward to this for weeks. It all started during one of our regular strolls around the castle, when we noticed the “Coming Soon” sign. Our excitement doubled the moment we realized it was Leitão&C. — the very same we already loved in Fátima — now opening right here in our medieval hilltop neighborhood.
On opening day, we couldn’t resist trying our luck… but it seemed everyone in the neighbourhood had the same idea. Every seat was taken, and our favorites were already sold out. Moral of the story: call first!
A few days later, we tried again — and this time, success!
What We Ordered
We slid into our seats, ordered our all-time favorite: sandes de leitão (roast suckling pig sandwich) and batata doce frita (sweet potato fries). One bite in, and we were reminded exactly why leitão holds the crown as my favorite Portuguese dish. Crispy skin, tender meat, just the right seasoning — pure happiness between bread.
From there, we explored the rest of the menu. It’s simple, focused, and absolutely on point — everything revolves around their signature leitão, served in sandwiches, salads, or with chips.
How to Find Them
If you’re staying at Casa do Cruzeiro, you can be at Leitão&C. in just 5–10 minutes on foot — a pleasant walk up the hill with castle views along the way. Perfect for a quick lunch after sightseeing.
