This house has a story—and it’s close to our hearts. It used to be our beloved grandma Conceição’s house, and her family before her. It's was a quiet, timeworn building tucked along Rua do Fabião in Ourém, just holding onto its old soul. We saw its bones, its charm and all the potential it had to become a place full of life and warmth again.

So we rolled up our sleeves. It took months of care, dust, decisions (so many!), and a fair share of paint-stained clothes. But we rebuilt it lovingly—room by room—with a simple goal: to make it feel like home, not just for us, but for anyone who walks through the door.

A Little Tour

Step inside, and you’ll find two bright, airy bedrooms—each with soft natural light and beds dressed in organic cotton linens. We chose earth-friendly materials not just because they’re sustainable, but because they feel good—on your skin, and in your conscience.

We’ve got two living rooms, both with comfy sofa beds, perfect for stretching out after a long day of exploring or sharing late-night conversations. These spaces are flexible and cozy—whether you're curling up with a book or making them into sleeping spots for extra guests.

You’ll find three full bathrooms, modern and minimal, with water-saving fixtures and carefully selected products that are kind to your body and the environment. Think refillable glass bottles, local soaps, and fluffy towels from brands we genuinely love.

The Kitchen We Love

Let’s talk about the kitchen—because it's one of our favorite parts. We adore cooking, and when we designed this space, it was with long, delicious meals in mind.

It's an open, inviting space, with plenty of sunlight, welcoming you to a spacious table.

It's fully equipped with everything you need: quality pans, sharp knives, plenty of utensils, a spacious oven, and even little things like a juice maker and toaster waiting for you.

Whether you’re whipping up breakfast before a hike or setting the table for a family dinner, we hope it inspires some good memories (and good food, of course).

Cozy in Every Season

One thing we really wanted was for the house to feel right, no matter the time of year. So we installed a full-house temperature control system—a radiant floor and a ventilator in the attic. They are easy to use, whisper-quiet, and effective. Whether it’s the warmth of winter or the cool breeze of summer, you’ll always feel just right.

Comfort with a Conscience

We believe that the best kind of comfort is the kind that’s mindful—of both you and the world around us.

That’s why Casa do Cruzeiro runs on solar energy. The sun here is generous, so it felt only natural to let it help power your stay—from heating water to warming your mornings.

When it comes to rest, we’ve chosen linens that make you feel at home. Our towels and beddings come from Torres Novas 1845, a Portuguese brand with over a century of tradition. Soft, durable, and woven with care, they wrap you in warmth while treading lightly on the planet.

In the bathrooms, you’ll find gentle, eco-conscious bath products from the Pure Collection of Lousani . Locally made and plant-based, they bring a bit of nature indoors—with scents that are soft, refreshing, and never overpowering.

There are more thoughtful selections of this kind in our house.

For us, every little detail matters. And we happen to have the best people for the job, Ondina, who's been a materials expert and Victor, a former quality manager for one of the biggest company in the country, for more than thirty years, and the most caring mom and dad. We hope these thoughtful touches help you feel even more at ease—body, mind, and soul.

Thoughtfully Accessible for All

At Casa do Cruzeiro, we believe comfort and beauty should be enjoyed by everyone. That’s why we’ve made sure the house is accessible to guests with reduced mobility, without compromising on charm or character.

The entrance is step-free, with a smooth ramp and support holder that leads you right into the heart of the home. Inside, you’ll find wide doorways, spacious rooms, and level floors throughout, making it easy to move around freely (that includes our kitchen/ common area, bathroom, two living rooms and a bedroom with its own bathroom). Both bathrooms are equipped with a walk-in shower and support bars to ensure both convenience and peace of mind. Small touches—like tilted mirrors, extended faucet handles, extra shower heads at a seated height, and open clothes racks within eas reach—have all been thoughtfully included to ensure greater comfort and accessibility.
